Acting Comptroller of the Currency: U.S. Banks Are Studying Whether to Support Bitcoin and Cryptoassets: U.S. banking institutions are looking at ways to support cryptoassets for interested clients, says Brian Brooks, acting Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) . On the podcast, Brian Brooks shared his thoughts on Bank of America exploring crypto avenues following the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) decision to grant banks the right to custody cryptocurrencies. Brooks believes that the complexities involved in developing an internal framework to act as a cryptocurrency custodian will drive banks to continue reaching out to existing centralized exchanges to store customers’ cryptocurrencies. In the long run, increasing bank support for cryptocurrencies could open up space for ordinary investors who are currently reluctant to enter the crypto market, he added.
